WTWW: How to Wear Spring Chelsea Boots

This post is an update to a previous post we did on Chelsea boots a little over a year ago. After all, they are still an easy ankle boot to wear going into the early spring season. We just got a new one in the shop from P.Monjo in a beautiful shade of grey with a slight green cast. They are gorgeous! So we thought we would take another look at this classic style and see how we would wear them today.

These boots will up your game when you pair them with your favorite “athleisure” pants: the legging. You can be comfy in your oversized sweater and stretchy pants and still look pulled together. Yay for comfort+style.

Not quite warm enough yet to wear sandals, but you can wear a Chelsea boot with cropped boyfriend style jeans. Pull on a tunic top or dress with a classic trench and you are good to go! Easy, breezy, beautiful, well you know what I mean.

Who says ankle boots are only for pants? Not us! We think you can rock them with dress or a skirt too. It’s all about proportions. We like the way they look with the longer hemlines. Also, way easier on your tootsies than stilettos.

GALS GIFT GUIDE

GALS GIFT GUIDE: Rifle Paper Co. GALS GIFT GUIDE: Stance Socks GALS GIFT GUIDE: Fiorentini + Baker GALS GIFT GUIDE: Ronni Kappos GALS GIFT GUIDE: Winter Session

This time of year everyone is very busy running around trying to keep up and get things done. So we thought we would put together a few suggestions and created a few gift guides that we will be posting here on the blog each week for the month of December.

This week’s guide is dedicated to gifts for her. You will never go wrong with a pair of boots, are we right ladies? But if buying a pair of boots makes you feel like you are only contributing to her shoe habit, (Not that there is anything wrong with that!) may we suggest some other ideas? How about a new bag for work or a pair of colorful earrings? Or perhaps some colorful cozy socks or some well designed notebooks she can throw in that new bag? Whatever you decide on, you will look like the perfect gift giver with a little help from us. So, come on by the shop and let us help you pick out the perfect gift for her. Did we mention we do complimentary gift wrap too?

Have a great week!

Shoe Trend: Chelsea Boots For Women

Chelsea boots, also known as Jodhpur boots or Paddock boots are close-fitting, ankle-high boots. The most notable features are the elastic side panel and a tab on the back of the boot, making it simple to take on and off with ease. The design’s history dates back to the Victorian era, when it was worn by both men and women.

In the 1950s and ’60s, Chelsea boots became popular in Great Britain. Perhaps because of their association with the King’s Road set of “Swinging London”.  Worn by everyone from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones to Jean Shrimpton might explain how the name Chelsea became attached to the boot.

A popular trend this season for women, we thought it would be fun to show you 3 different ways to wear this little iconic boot.

Chelsea Boots with Leggings

Who doesn’t like to wear leggings? Comfortable and cozy with an oversized sweater and a wool jacket the boots give your outfit a clean polished look. Ditch the Uggs ladies!

Chelsea Boots with Skirt

If you like wearing skirts or dresses, you can easily wear a Chelsea style because of the close fit to the ankle. Wear coordinated tights to lengthen your legs visually. Layer some socks with your tights for a more casual look. Plus, they’ll keep your tootsies warm on chillier days.

Chelsea Boots with Skinny Jeans

For a look with a little more edge, try wearing a style with a higher heel. This style of the Chelsea boot works well with skinny jeans as well as dresses and skirts. Rock on girl!

What to Wear Wednesday: MOMA 71405 Chelsea Boot

Each Wednesday we’ll answer the on-going question: “What do I wear with these?”  It’s a question we get quite often here at the shop and we love giving suggestions when helping our customers.

What to Wear with the MOMA Chelsea Boot
Although the weather around the PNW has not turned cool by any means, we are so ready for our fall wardrobes! Especially when you have boots like these from MOMA to inspire your autumn attire. This Chelsea style with its double-gore panels makes it an easy-on-in-no-time kind of boot. Wear it with a sharp tweed blazer and slim wool trousers for work or pair them with your relaxed jeans, a checked flannel and a cozy cardigan for your days off. It really is that versatile. Now, if it would only cool down enough to start wearing boots!

What to Wear Wednesday: Coclico “Natali” Ankle Boot

Each Wednesday we’ll answer the on-going question: “What do I wear with these?”  It’s a question we get quite often here at the shop and we love giving suggestions when helping our customers.

What to Wear with Coclico Natali
So the kids get to be shiny and new with their back-to-school clothes, so why can’t we? Hence the reason for this what-to-wear Wednesday’s back-to-work post. What a better way to celebrate the kiddos going back to school than with a little fall treat for yourself after the long summer. We love the Natali boot from Coclico. Part ankle boot, part clog, and a whole lot of sass, we would wear this with everything! For those of you in a casual work environment, pair them with your skinny jeans, silk top and long vest for a laid back yet polished look. Need to dress up for work? Wear them with tights and a knit dress or a wool shift. A new tote to go with your fall ensemble would complete the look. Oh, did we mention they are really comfortable?
