Currently Coveting: MOMA 50404 Boot

MOMA 50404 Lace-up Boot

“This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit.” – Torin

Since my first day at re-souL I have had a soft spot in my heart for MOMA. They’ve been the ones that always catch my eye and tempt me the most. From the way the leathers crease and fold, reminiscent of the topography of a map to the little marks and quirks of the hide that make each boot both unique and familiar. This is why I like MOMA and why I am currently coveting their 50404 lace-up boot.

Another aspect of the 50404 boot that has me coming back to it again and again is the look. This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit. I’ve always loved dressing well but I hate being too dolled up. I like to throw in something rough or different with an outfit. The 50404 boot allows me to throw in that military blue collar look while still maintaining a put together appearance. Alternatively, I can wear them with a tee and blue jeans and have an effortless, stylish casual look. Joe Cool has his sunglasses and I have my boots.

Moma has always come across as more than just a shoe, it was clearly evident that the folks behind this brand had much more than shoes in mind when they develop their new styles for each season. These aren’t unskilled laborers sitting at an assembly line cranking out the same shoe or boot over and over again. These are artists; real craftsmen and women who are imbuing such an ordinary everyday thing with life and personality. For that, the knowledge that these boots are made with love and that they are going to be with me for years to come, that’s the real reason why I covet the MOMA 50404 lace-up boot..

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner: featuring P. Monjo P-727 boot

Each Wednesday we’ll answer the on-going question: “What do I wear with these?” It’s a question we get quite often here at the shop and we love giving suggestions when helping our customers. This week we feature the P-727 boot by P.Monjo.

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner
Since it is the day before Thanksgiving, we thought it would be fun to put together some suggestions for the traditional dinner at home with friends and family.  We love this little cuff boot by P. Monjo. It is stylish and can be worn in a variety of ways. Wear them with a chunky cable knit sweater and some skinny twill pants. Or if the occasion is really casual, wear them with a striped t shirt, cashmere cardigan and some loose fitting boyfriend jeans. Want to wear a dress? No problem, pair them with dark thick tights and a printed dress for a slightly dressier occasion.

We would like to take the opportunity to tell you that we are thankful for you visiting us here on the blog and your continued patronage throughout the year.  We wish a wonderful holiday filled with love and good food. Happy Thanksgiving!

Currently Coveting: Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot

Wolverine 1000 boot - Torin's staff pick

“Styles come and go but to me the 1000 Mile boot and its kin are timeless pieces that will stand by my side and endure the test of time.” – Torin

An American classic, Wolverine has been around since 1883 and are known for rugged, quality boots and shoes. In an homage to old fashioned craftsmanship Wolverine went back to their roots with their 1000 Mile boot collection. I am a huge supporter of quality and American goods and the Wolverine 1000 Mile boots both meet and surpass my criteria.

Even though I love the entire collection, I am currently coveting the classic 1000 Mile boot. A Wolverine staple, this is the boot from which all others in the collection are designed from. The 1000 Mile really appeals to me with its clean toe and American working man look. Incredibly stylish and smart in a warm brown, I would pair it with some straight leg or skinny jeans and my favorite plaid button down. For those colder nights I’d wear them with my dark brown bomber jacket for a sharp casual look that would be perfect for meeting up with my buds or going out on an Autumn date. Styles come and go but to me the 1000 Mile boot and its kin are timeless pieces that will stand by my side and endure the test of time.

Proud to Present: Nylo

Nylo (Nee-Lo) was created in 2009 by the Nardini family in Florence, Italy. This Tuscan family, with a passion for artisan shoe-making has over 50 years of hands on experience. The project was given birth when father and son decided to create a line of shoes that did not put limits on their creativity, yet targets a particular niche for artisan footwear.

Son, Federico is the visionary and stylist of the brand. Rinaldo, his father, is the “Maestro”. He has the experience of creating shoes and accessories entirely by hand. The Nylo philosophy is to create products using the “ancient” or “old world” techniques that the small towns of Florence have produced for over a century. These shoes are created with the cosmopolitan consumer in mind. Federico is influenced by fashion trends, his travels, and the diverse cultures from around the globe. He mixes these influences with strong artisan traditions to create a unique and inspiring collection.

You get the sense that Nylo represents Federico’s nomadic journey searching for his roots in the Italian shoe-making tradition.
