Spring Trend: Culottes & Clogs

Culottes and clogs. Yes, that’s what we said. The two go together like an artisan loaf of bread and an Irish creamy butter. Both very good on their own of course but, oh together, even better! Culottes have become a fashion basic in the last couple of seasons and a great way to wear them is with clogs. Clogs give you the right height and heft you need to balance out the wideness of the pant leg.

Clogs & Culottes: Coclico

These Coclico wedge clogs are modern and sleek with their color tonalities and textures. We would wear them with something simple and layered to achieve a more sophisticated look in our outfit.

Clogs & Culottes: Taddeucci

We love the look of these Giulia Taddeucci clogs with the wood bottoms stained black and the glossy leather uppers. They almost look like a piece of modern furniture. We would wear these with our favorite black culottes and a crisp white poplin shirt. Clogs & Culottes: Kupuri

We adore the 70’s vintage vibe of these Kupuri clog sandals. The perfect neutral color to wear with most of your summer casuals, stripes, and denim.

So what do you think? Ready to give culottes and clogs a try? You’ll look fabulous we promise.

WTWW: 3 Different Ways to Wear Midi Skirts

Each Wednesday we’ll answer the on-going question: “What do I wear with these?”  It’s a question we get quite often here at the shop and we love giving suggestions when helping our customers. This week we focus on three different Kupuri styles to wear with midi skirts.

We just received a new collection of spring shoes from Kupuri. The styles are fresh and feminine. Midi skirts over the last few seasons have gone from runway fashion to a staple in our spring and summer wardrobes. So, we thought it would be fun to show different styles of shoes you can wear with this on-trend skirt length.

What to wear with Kupuri T-strap Sandals

The most flattering and ladylike way to wear a full mid-length skirt is with a heel. We really like this t-strap with its neutral color straps, blocky heel, and comfy platform. Wear these when you want to channel your inner femme fatal.

WTWW ~ MOMA Fisherman Sandal

Each Wednesday we’ll answer the on-going question: “What do I wear with these?”  It’s a question we get quite often here at the shop and we love giving suggestions when helping our customers.  Well, the weather might not be “spring like” but our early spring arrivals are starting to show up in the shop. We immediately fell in love with this modern version of a fisherman sandal by MOMA. The closed toe and heel make it approriate enough for work, but still have the feel of a summer sandal. Here are 3 examples of how to incorporate this shoe into your wardrobe. MOMA 44504 Fisherman Sandal Look 1   Wider trousers are making a comeback. These shoes are perfect for this look, they have enough weight to balance out the width of the culottes but still look very feminine. MOMA 44504 Fisherman Sandal Look 2   Although these would work well with your skinny jeans too, we really like the look of a boyfriend style jean for your casual days. Cuff up your pant legs to show off your ankles and the cute sandal too. MOMA 44504 Fisherman Sandal Look 3   Although, you might not think to pair these with a dress, we like the look these bring to a simple shirt dress. As long as your dress has some tailored elements, this fisherman style will compliment it well. These shoes would also work with  a simple linen sack dress or midi skirt too.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great rest of the week!

Maggie Muses: re-souL mood boards

Let’s just jump right into this, shall we?  I love mood boards! I love looking at them.  I enjoy creating them. I really can’t get enough of them! To me they are a visual way of organizing my thoughts before I go into the full blown design mode. Every creative person has their own way of being inspired and their own process. Mine starts with mood boards. It’s my inspiration, my trend analysis, my research and my organization all rolled into a visual presentation.

This Fall’s re-souL’s brand collection of shoes started with, you might of guessed by now, a mood board. A couple of them, actually. The first one was created from images I found on-line. I usually keep them on my i-Pad using apps for creating boards. That way I can recall them at anytime, especially when away from the shop or office. My current favorite app is Morpholio Board. It allows you to save your boards, edit them, add text and add links to your pictures.

The second mood board was my color story. It was something that I had pinned up on the wall and spread out through my work space. Fabric swatches, a catalog tear sheet, some painted sketches, and one of my favorite necklaces I had picked up in Copenhagen several years ago. This became the color palette for the shoe collection as well as our FW14 look book.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: Art Deco Inspiration

I don’t know if it’s I am simply tired of the rain, and I am craving warmer weather, as we all do this time of year in the Pacific Northwest. But I have been pinning images to our Pinterest boards in crazy color combinations that can only be described as Miami Beach Art Deco for the lack of a better description. The pastel colors of pink and mint juxtapositioned against purples, blues, and yellows just look to me. Or maybe I am having an 80’s flashback of Nagels and bad southwest decor? I don’t know, I’ll let you be the judge.

This sandal by Chie Mihara should do the trick! Wear it with printed shorts, silk pants or a simple black sheath. Because of its sophisticated color combination you can dress it up or down for practically any occasion. Now, if only the sun would come out.
