WTWW – How to Wear Mules

Hello! It’s time for another edition of What to Wear Wednesday. This week we are enjoying the warmer Spring weather in the PNW. We thought it would be fun to show you how to wear mules. A mule is a closed-toe open-heel shoe that comes in different heel heights. We love them as an alternative to wearing a sandal.

What is more comfortable than wearing a pair of broken-in jeans? Wearing them with a mule! A mule is a good way to be comfortable but still look polished enough for a casual day at work or going out in the evening. We like the way this Halmanera pointed toe style looks with a tapered jean. These would also look fantastic with a pair of black kick-crop pants as well.

So you feel like wearing shorts but sneakers and sandals feel too casual for streetwear or a casual work environment. This silver moccasin style mule looks as smart as wearing a loafer, but is as comfortable as a slipper. We like the metallic silver because metallics are a great neutral as an alternative to basic black or brown. Wear these with everything!

We love the look of mules so much, that we designed and developed our own style. Our Madora style comes in 5 colors. We like the way this re-souL collection version looks with skirts and dresses. The cut of the vamp in a deep-V, makes your legs look longer. Bonus! These would also look amazing with wide-leg crop pants too.

So hopefully we have inspired you to try out wearing mules. What do you think? Which mule could work for you?

WTWW – Summer Dress + re-souL Sandal

Hello! It’s time for another edition of What to Wear Wednesday. This week we are craving for the warmer weather to come back to the PNW. We thought it would be fun to pair up some summer dress styles with our re-souL sandals.

resouL_maxime_yellow_sandalWhat is more comfortable than a long flowy dress in the summer? Wearing a dress means you only have one thing to put on in the morning and you don’t have to think too hard about what to wear. We like the way these yellow sandals compliment a blue dress. They would look great also with the colors black, khaki and olive green.

When you have plans to do some touring or simply enjoy the outdoors, these red sandals will be comfy on your feet but still look smart enough to wear around town. Flip-flops no more! We like the way they balance a spaghetti strap dress. Plus red is the “not neutral”, neutral. Wear them with black, gray, blue, white or khaki.

Okay, so a jumpsuit is not technically a dress but, it has the ease of a one-piece item like a frock or a shift. We love these orange slides and how well they work with most anything. Something very chic about a flat slide when paired with a jumpsuit or a longer length dress. You’ll be heading off to dinner in style, tre’ sophistique’!

Behind The Scenes of Our “Shelley” Shootie

Original Sketch and Prototype of Our Shootie

Ever wonder how a shoe comes to be? It’s not as simple as it seems. A lot of thought and development go into making a shoe. After all, it’s a 3-dimensional object that needs to fit well as well as look good! Other than designing and developing a shoe into a prototype, actual manufacturing of a shoe is really interesting.

Below are photos that were taken at one of the factories we use to make re-souL shoes. We will try and navigate you through the pictures taken at this factory in Peru. This particular style we named the “Shelley”. It’s not quite a shoe and yet not quite an ankle boot, it’s what we like to call a “shootie”.

In these photos above, the pattern of this style, the lining, and the upper materials are sewn together for each size and color. The outside welt that goes around the shoe between the upper and the sole is having glue applied before the lasting of the shoe takes place.

Here we can see the shoes that have been put on the last. The “last” is the form used to give a shoe its shape. You can see the welt and the sole from a side view before the heel block will be attached.

After the shoes come off the last, and the heels have been attached, they await the final stages before boxing them up for shipment. They are cleaned up, waxed, buffed and stuffed with tissue.

Lefts and rights are matched up and the final inspection is done. They are boxed up and ready to be sent to us. We can’t wait!
