Brown is Back!

With the weather changing and the rain coming back, we are starting to get in the mood for Fall shoes. After a couple of seasons of black and gray, it’s nice to see some rich shades of brown in the shop like tan/camel, russet, and dark chocolate.

Brown is Back : Tan Tilda clog by re-souL

Our re-souL clog “Tilda” is the perfect light color brown for transitioning into Fall. We would wear these with denim and our favorite skirts and dresses. When it gets a bit cooler we would wear these with some fun patterned socks.

Brown is Back : P. Monjo P-982 Cuff Boot

We love the richness of this russet brown boot by P.Monjo. A brown shade with a hint of red, we would wear these boots with our favorite cable tights and midi-skirts. This color is also very complimentary to navy, burgundy and burnt orange.

Brown is Back : MOMA chelsea boot in Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate brown is a versatile shade that can be worn with navy, gray and taupe. These Chelsea boots by MOMA are a basic style that would go with most anything in your wardrobe.

Spring Trend: Monochrome

One of the biggest spring trends this season is the idea of a monochrome wardrobe. Having an edited down wardrobe makes it way easier to get dressed in the morning. We all lead busy lives and having a “uniform” of sorts in your closet makes it one less thing to worry about when getting dressed for the day.

This by all means doesn’t mean boring. You can still play with pattern and add accessories to add some flair to your look. Black, white, cream and shades of grey look great on most, so having shoes that coordinate with your minimal palette is essential.

Spring is fickle, it can feel like all four seasons in a day. Therefore, layering is the key to helping get through those months of manic weather. Same goes for these oxfords. Wear them with socks to ward off the chill, wear them without when the sun is shining brightly.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: Snapshots of NYC

Snapshots of NYC

Times Square

This Monday I was musing about our recent trip last week to New York.  It was cold, dark and at times downright frigid outside. But, I thought it would be fun to share some pictures from the Big Apple. While we did go to attend a trade show and visit some showrooms, we mostly went to spend time in the city and have some fun with our son. It was his birthday week and he had never been to New York,  so it was the perfect excuse to take him with us and spend some quality family time too.

I am the worst at taking pictures when there is no proper lighting. Plus, I was having so much fun with the fam that half the time I would forget to take pictures. But I did manage to take a few snapshots with my iPhone. It looks like I spent most of my time looking up or looking down.

Other than visiting with friends and eating great food, the highlights for me were the American Museum of Natural History, the Matisse Shapes Exhibit at MOMA and attending a Broadway show.

What do you like to do when you visit New York? Thank you as always for stopping by our little blog. Have a great week! xo ~ Maggie

Currently Coveting: MOMA 50404 Boot

MOMA 50404 Lace-up Boot

“This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit.” – Torin

Since my first day at re-souL I have had a soft spot in my heart for MOMA. They’ve been the ones that always catch my eye and tempt me the most. From the way the leathers crease and fold, reminiscent of the topography of a map to the little marks and quirks of the hide that make each boot both unique and familiar. This is why I like MOMA and why I am currently coveting their 50404 lace-up boot.

Another aspect of the 50404 boot that has me coming back to it again and again is the look. This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit. I’ve always loved dressing well but I hate being too dolled up. I like to throw in something rough or different with an outfit. The 50404 boot allows me to throw in that military blue collar look while still maintaining a put together appearance. Alternatively, I can wear them with a tee and blue jeans and have an effortless, stylish casual look. Joe Cool has his sunglasses and I have my boots.

Currently Coveting the MOMA 50404 Lace-up boot - Brown

Moma has always come across as more than just a shoe, it was clearly evident that the folks behind this brand had much more than shoes in mind when they develop their new styles for each season. These aren’t unskilled laborers sitting at an assembly line cranking out the same shoe or boot over and over again. These are artists; real craftsmen and women who are imbuing such an ordinary everyday thing with life and personality. For that, the knowledge that these boots are made with love and that they are going to be with me for years to come, that’s the real reason why I covet the MOMA 50404 lace-up boot..
