“This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit.” – Torin
Since my first day at re-souL I have had a soft spot in my heart for MOMA. They’ve been the ones that always catch my eye and tempt me the most. From the way the leathers crease and fold, reminiscent of the topography of a map to the little marks and quirks of the hide that make each boot both unique and familiar. This is why I like MOMA and why I am currently coveting their 50404 lace-up boot.
Another aspect of the 50404 boot that has me coming back to it again and again is the look. This boot is incredibly fashionable with just a touch of grit. I’ve always loved dressing well but I hate being too dolled up. I like to throw in something rough or different with an outfit. The 50404 boot allows me to throw in that military blue collar look while still maintaining a put together appearance. Alternatively, I can wear them with a tee and blue jeans and have an effortless, stylish casual look. Joe Cool has his sunglasses and I have my boots.
Moma has always come across as more than just a shoe, it was clearly evident that the folks behind this brand had much more than shoes in mind when they develop their new styles for each season. These aren’t unskilled laborers sitting at an assembly line cranking out the same shoe or boot over and over again. These are artists; real craftsmen and women who are imbuing such an ordinary everyday thing with life and personality. For that, the knowledge that these boots are made with love and that they are going to be with me for years to come, that’s the real reason why I covet the MOMA 50404 lace-up boot..
This post part of a series of re-souL staff picks titled “Currently Coveting”.

For this week’s What-do-I-Wear-Wednesday, we thought it would be fun to show some styling suggestions with the help of our friends, Cat, Chika and Amanda over at shopvelouria.com. Velouria is a beautifully curated shop in Ballard specializing in lovely, small production, independently-made clothing, jewelry and accessories. Chika and Cat enjoy creating meaningful relationships with their talented designers from the Pacific Northwest and we are so fortunate to have them as neighbors.
Velouria was recently featured in a blog post from Seattle’s Poplin Style and had borrowed some shoes from re-souL to style with their clothing. Since we just launched our very own re-souL collection, we thought it would be a great opportunity to show you some fantastic apparel suggestions on how to wear our new spring shoes!
We just recently launched our new re-souL shoe collection for women. It’s a big step for us to launch our own brand and yet to us, it seems like a natural progression. Over the past 12 years in our shop, we are honored to have met countless customers and friends and we have a pretty good feel for their look and their style. Recently, in our travels to the marketplace and to trade shows, we have these customers in mind and it just felt like their needs are not being met by the usual brands. So it makes sense to us, with our background in shoe design, to take it to the next level and design our own collection.
Our shoes are very much styled after specific people that we know and love. Everyday basics, stylish and comfortable, they are up-to-date and available in colors because that’s what she wants to see. For the next few weeks we will regularly feature a shoe from the new re-souL collection. We’ll portray a personality of someone we know that inspired the design of the shoe.
The Misha shoe is most definitely inspired by our friend Misha. She is the designer/wizard behind Turquoise Creative, a design studio that sells fine paper art and stationery. This petite powerhouse is the friendliest extrovert you will ever meet. When she’s not designing, Misha can be found working on “the house” with her husband Ben, running after her two young sons or enjoying the urban life with her eclectic mix of friends. Her taste is definitely feminine and she never leaves home without mascara or anything less than a one inch heel. She loves a perfect French croissant, clear sunny skies and spring flowers. Misha always prefers a dress instead of pants, her style is vivid and her wardrobe is filled with colorful scarfs and very special accessories. Her namesake shoe was designed for the fashionable gal who is never afraid to be too dressed up, regardless of the occassion.

Officine Creative shoes are highly coveted. They are the masters of artisan craftsmanship. Their designs, workmanship and attention to details are always top notch. By far one of the best brands in the world. Just ask anybody in the shoe biz and they will tell you the same. We are so fortunate to have them in our shop.
Okay, I have to be fair, I should title this post “Currently UN-Coveting”. These are my personal boots. I do own them. But in my defense, I coveted them for 2 seasons until they were in the shop again. I wanted them from the moment I saw them.
These are the reasons I love my Officine’s. First of all, they are so comfortable, the leather is buttery soft. My feet feel like they are getting a hug when I wear these boots. The heel height is perfect. I am not a heels kind of girl, I always wear flats, but these boots were made for walking! ( Sorry, I couldn’t help myself with the Nancy Sinatra reference.) Seriously, I can run around the shop all day in these. Also, I can wear them with everything but an evening gown. No joke. They look great with my skinny jeans, my slouchy pants, tailored trousers and I also wear them with tights and dresses.
These boots are timeless and will be a part of my wardrobe for many seasons to come. You really should try these ankle boots by Officine Creative, they will be love at first sight. ~ Maggie
