Mondays, Maggie Muses: Photographer Heidi Lerkenfeldt

I am the first one to admit that pretty pictures are an addiction for me. Curse you Pinterest! No. Not really. It’s the preferred addiction of choice. Anyway, reviewing my pins as of late, I noticed that a lot of my favorite images have the same feel.  After doing some further investigation I came upon stillstars.com, an agency dedicated to promoting still life photographers.  This is where I found Heidi Lerkenfeldt. Turns out, I have pinned many of her images onto my boards!

Heidi Lerkenfeldt is one of Still Stars’s stars, and rightly so.  Collaborating with companies such as Ferm Living and stylist Lotta Agaton, to name just a couple, her portfolio is impressive. Maybe it’s her Scandinavian esthetic that attracts me. Her use of light, color and minimalist composition all seem to create a peaceful mood. Whether she is photographing interiors, lifestyle, stills or food they all have the same beautiful tone which makes her work so appealing.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: The Geo Trend

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL.   I like to “muse” about things that inspire me.  Especially on Mondays.

The influence of geometry has taken a strong hold over art, fashion, interiors, and quite frankly design in general.  Just take a look at these images and you’ll see its pretty hard to avoid identifying this trend.  I heart it! I love the strong lines and the colors.  the patterns and shapes speak to my modernist sensibilities.  Here are some of my favorite geo-things.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: Winter Whites

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL.   I like to “muse” about things that inspire me.  Especially on Mondays.

This Monday I am obsessing over winter whites. Maybe it has to do with the DeNada knits we just received at the shop. Or  it could be just that winter whites can looks so crisp, clean and cozy all at the same time? They just make me want to snuggle. Here are some images of winter whites that I find warm and inviting. ( By the way, my clothes nor my house could ever stay so clean as to actually attain this fantasy of mine.)

Mondays, Maggie Muses: What colors could you live in? Black & White vs. Rainbow Colors

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL.   I like to “muse” about things that inspire me.  Especially on Mondays.

If you spend any time on  Tumblr or Pinterest,  you will see the heavy influence of black and white in home accessories, as well as interiors.  I love the look. I am very drawn to it. But I just can’t picture myself living in a black and white environment.  A very cool esthetic, but too rigid for my tastes.

On the opposite side of the spectrum (no pun intended) we have a trend of lots of cheery colors,  a “rainbow” of colors for a lack of a better description.  Don’t get me wrong, I like color. But all the colors?  It can be a little bit of an overload for me.

Somewhere there has to be a happy medium, don’t you think?  For now, I think I’ll stick to my dependable orange.
