Mondays, Maggie Muses: Art and Chairs

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL. I like to “muse” about things that inspire me. Especially on Mondays.

If you follow me on Mondays, you already know that I am fond of art.  But, did you know I have a secret obsession with chairs? We live in a small home, so I do not have space for a collection of dream chairs.  But, if you were to ask me what is in my living room right now, I would answer “a couple of chairs”.  I really like those chairs but I can’t seem to furnish the rest of my living room and that is an entirely different subject.

Chairs call to me at flea markets, garage sales, at the Goodwill.  They say, “Hey you! Take me home, fix me up, make me new.” I once had a pair of chairs sit in the garage for years.  I had every intention of fixing them up and making them new but they sat for 6 or 7 years.  Legh asked several times about selling them in a garage sale and I wouldn’t let him. “NO, I am going to fix them up”.  Of course in the end, it was Legh who finally refinished them for me.

So, today I thought it would be fun to match up some beautiful art with some beautiful seating. Who knows? Maybe I will get around to finishing my living room.

Don’t hold your breath.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: Moroccan Trends

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL. I like to “muse” about things that inspire me. Especially on Mondays.

Moroccan design is by no means new.  However, it does seem to be having a resurgence and a strong influence on interior design, clothing and accessories as of late.  Bold rich colors, deep metallic finishes, repetition of patterns and symmetrical prints make it  an irresistible trend especially for warmer climates.  It is especially fresh when designers mix the traditional elements of moroccan design in a new modern way.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: A Real Living Room

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL.   I like to “muse” about things that inspire me.  Especially on Mondays.

As I stare into what technically is supposed to be our living room, I get overwhelmed on how to change it into my dream space.  Right now its just a couple of nice armchairs and smack in the middle, a pup tent leftover from my son’s birthday party.  Did I mention that his birthday was months ago? I dare not move it, as he has turned it into his own personal library/reading room.  Anything that encourages “reading” in my book is a good thing, pun intended.

However, if I ever get inspired to change our situation, these are the living rooms that I would aspire to have:

Modern yet Elegant

Open and Clean

Retro Inspired

Eclectic and Comfortable

Artfully Curated

Hmm, I am starting to see a trend here. Oh well, guess I have to live with the pup tent a bit longer.  All images via Pinterest.

Mondays, Maggie Muses: A Place to Sleep

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL.   I like to “muse” about things that inspire me.  Especially on Mondays.

Maybe it’s the jet lag from our recent buy trip, or the spring forward thing, but all I seem to be musing about is sleep!  Which has me obsessed with beds, sleep and the beautiful living spaces of where people sleep.  Did I mention sleep? I would love to crawl into any of these bedrooms shown here.

The grey tones of this room call to me to sleep.

My inner bohemian would love a nap here.

Once I was in this cozy space I don’t think you could get me to leave.

I love the shades of white in this room, I can dream can’t I?
