Mondays, Maggie Muses: Brass & Bronze

Hi, I’m Maggie. My husband (Legh) and I own re-souL. I like to “muse” about things that inspire me. Especially on Mondays.

As far as metals go, I like silver and gold. But lately I’ve been really attracted to brass and bronze metals too.  Maybe because they have a warm, rich patina to them.  Many jewelry artists have been playing with brass and bronze because it’s less expensive and easier to source than traditional metals.  Brass and bronze can also be found in interior designs and architecture. However, just because it’s less expensive, it doesn’t mean the end result will be modest looking.

Clockwise left to right: bronze leather loafers by Kudeta, bronze in make-up, 1970’s brass and bronze starburst wall sculpture, Walter Bosse hedgehog in bronze, Southern Hemisphere sculpture by Ron Arad.

Clockwise left to right: Iris Guy brass pendant, brass sculpture by Jeff Colson, Herve Van der Straeten chandelier, brass pendant lamps by Dunlin, details of Town Hall Hotel and Apartments, London.

Brass and bronze look very luxurious to me, don’t you think?
